Higham Ferrers Heritage Trail

Brand

Challenge
The historic English market town of Higham Ferrers wanted to update their branding and communicate the heritage of the town in the form of a town trail. This was particularly relevant with the completion of the nearby Rushden Lakes shopping complex and was viewed as a potential draw into the town. We were to undertake the whole project – research, design, imagery, copy and print production

Solution
We walked and researched the town, observing its history and historic landmarks. We took the view that foregoing photography for watercolour illustration would enhance the heritage feel, this was further replicated in the design and typography

Result
The end result was a popular 1/3rd A4 leaflet that folded out into an A3 illustrated town trail. Content was then used for interpretation boards around the town and led to additional projects and from the neighbouring Rushden Town Council

During 2022 we were commissioned to produce a digital version of the trail showing the user directions and an audio description at each location. We have since been approached by other tourist groups to look at their town guides

We were to undertake the whole project – research, design, imagery, copy, print production and a digital interactive guide
